Elderly Mobility, Medical Care and Help

Mobility For The Elderly

Declining mobility is a major concern for elders and their families. With better health care and medicines, the over-65 population is the fastest growing. Older adults turn to canes, walkers, stair lifts, and chair lifts to keep them mobile. Different types of wheelchairs can enable persons to get around if they have the strength to use them.

Therefore, therapy for the elderly focuses on strength—arms, legs, and core as well as balance. Nevertheless, breathing capacity is a component in mobility as well. One of the biggest fears of the elderly is falling, which can lead to fragile bones breaking, making them dependent on others.
